The "Melalite" trademark was started around the
                  1930's
in Violet St, Eagle Farm, Brisbane.
In the year 2000 we acquired the business with
                  original dies and machinery.
Products such as our "NORPLAS"101 Fuseholders
                  are still supplying street lights
and houses in Qld and the South Pacific, including New Guinea.

Bakelite shades have been a line since the 1930's.

Light shade galleries have been made in bakelite for decades
and Murray, who operates "Bakelite Industries" has
                  been
                  experimenting and using traditional methods,
to come up with the colour range we have today.
Mervin, an employee of the original firm for many years
taught Murray and was our trouble shooter, helping us nut out
some awkward problems on our old but well engineered machinery.
Advice on methods and techniques of making bakelite have
been gratefully accepted from this generous man.
